The award-winning I'm a Scientist, Get me out of here! event brings together young science students and working scientists in a series of live online chats.
Mixing lessons with TV talent shows, the students can ask the scientists anything they like, before voting them off one-by-one, X-Factor style. The winning scientist gets £500 to spend on their own science communication project.
The Science and Technology Facilities Council are sponsoring two zones in the event running from 14th-25th November 2011. This free, fun event is a fantastic opportunity to get your students talking to real STFC scientists, to learn about their research and the work that STFC do. STFC will also be sponsoring zones in the March 2012 event of I'm a Scientist, which is also running in June 2012.
Teachers from previous I'm a Scientist events have told us how their students became more interested in, and enthusiastic about, science as a subject and as a possible career. I'm a Scientist includes complete lesson plans and background resources, put together in consultation with teachers.
