Boeing 707 restoration

Article posted: 12 April 2010

The National Museum of Flight are looking for engineers working both in research and industry, to take part in their Into the Future Event on the 19th and 20th June 2010.

The event is looking at what the future might hold for us all from cutting edge technology to gadgets to alien invasion. Robots Live Robots Live will be staging a stunning show of battling and boxing robots. Other attractions will include a Best fake UFO Picture Competition and the chance to see research scientists talking about their latest discoveries. The event is aimed at a family audience and is aiming to attract over 3, 000 visitors during the weekend.

Engineers who volunteer will be offered a days training on the 4th or 5th or 12th or 13th May. They will then go away and work on a science show, debate or workshop which I will support remotely by email or telephone. On the day of the above event the engineers who take part will then have a chance to present what they have been working on to the public at the event in the Engineers' Pavilion.

A grant application to support this project has been submitted to the Royal Academy of Engineering, an announcement on this is expected soon.
